The President and Commander- in - Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency,  Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR has approved the upgrade of the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi to a Teaching Hospital to be known as FEDERAL UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL (FUTH) BIRNIN KEBBI.

The new Teaching Hospital is expected to serve as the Clinical Training and Research facility for the Medical Students of College of Health Sciences, Federal University Birnin Kebbi.

The much anticipated Presidential approval was granted via a Letter dated 13th March, 2024 signed by the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Tunji Alausa in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President that citizens receive prompt, efficient and affordable Healthcare Services across the Country.

The Minister mandated the management of both FUBK and FMC now to be called as FUTH Birnin Kebbi to work with synergy and collaboration to consolidate the upgrade by improving and utilization of all the facilities for Teaching and Research purposes.

The Management and Staff of the new Federal University Teaching Hospital, Birnin Kebbi led by the Chief Medical Director/ CEO, Dr Aliyu Hamza Balarabe thanked Mr President and all the critical stakeholders too numerous to mentioned that contributed in no small measure for the upgrade and confidence reposed on the Hospital.

Dr Aliyu Hamza Balarabe also congratulated the host, the Kebbi State Government under the able leadership of Comrade Dr Nasir Idris (Kwauran Gwandu), FUBK and the Hospital Community for the attainment of this upgrade that would certainly be beneficial to all the good people of Kebbi State and its environs.
