A Brief History
The Department of ENT Surgery is one of the Clinical Departments in Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State. It was established as a unit in 2003 by the then Medical Director Dr. Ramatu Y. Hassan and was manned by a visiting consultant ENT Surgeon, Dr. K. R. Iseh.
In 2010, Late Dr. Sahabi Bande became the Pioneer Head of ENT Unit until his demise in 2013. Following this unfortunate incident, the department was then managed only by ENT trained nurses, a medical officer and visiting consultant Otorhinolaryngologists from various parts of the country. In the previous years, ENT was functioning as a unit under the department of surgery before it was made a department in January, 2019 and Dr Wasiu Omotosho was appointed as the head of department.
The head of department is working closely with the other staff to pursue academic excellence and rendering of quality Otorhinolaryngological care and services for all patients.

These will be achieved after manpower development in the various subspecialties. Furthermore, we shall start providing full audiological services after acquiring all the necessary equipment in the near future.
