Procurement
The Procurement Department was established as Planning,
Research and Statistics Department at inception of the Federal Medical Centre
Birnin Kebbi in 2000. However, on 19th February 2013 the department
was reorganized and transitioned to the current Procurement Department.
The Department is headed by Umar Faruk Suleiman. He is assisted by other core staff. All core staff of the
department have attended various courses and trainings on procurement
procedures as define by the Procurement Act.
Scope of Responsibility
The department is responsible for establishing the
flow of materials and services into the organization following-up with the
suppliers, contractors or consultants and accepting delivery. It is also
responsible for conducting market survey with the core objectives of economic
efficiency, competition, value for money and transparency as well as keeping
progress reports of ongoing projects in the Centre for purposes of monitoring
and evaluation.
Achievements
The department apart from the daily routine procurements
has successfully implemented tenders for capital budget through pre-qualification,
bid opening, due certification and award of the contracts for a number of
projects some of which are ongoing. They are also involved in project monitoring.
