Internal Audit
The
Internal Audit Department of the Federal Medical Centre Birnin Kebbi serves as
the watchdog of the Hospital activities on behalf of the Management. It
prepares and submits monthly, quarterly and half yearly reports to the
Accounting Officer of the Centre.
The
department has been in existence since creation of the hospital in the year
2000.
The
department exists to prevent waste and ensure the proper application and
maximization of resources. It also has the responsibility of preventing
possible fraud or detecting committed fraud as early as possible. It also works
to prevent loss of cash and/or other assets of the Hospital.
It
achieves this by regular inspection and appraisal of the accounting, inventory
and other resource management systems of the Centre using the Internal Audit
Guidelines issued by the office of the Accountant General of the Federation,
the Federal Treasury Accounting Manual issued by the Office of the Accountant
General of the Federation and the Auditing Manual developed by the Centre. It
also conducts staff pay parade and system review of the Hospital’s revolving
Funds activities.
The
department, currently being headed by Mr Alfred A. Zom.
